The CMEC Symposium on Indigenizing ¿ÉÀÖÊÓƵ

The CMEC Symposium on Indigenizing ¿ÉÀÖÊÓƵ (2022) took place in July 2022 at the First Nations University of Canada Regina campus, situated on the atim kâ-mihkosit (Red Dog) Urban Reserve, Star Blanket Cree Nation, and Treaty 4 Territory. The symposium gathered participants from across Canada, both in-person and virtually, including ministers, Elders, Indigenous education experts, and Indigenous students, to learn from First Nations, Métis, and Inuit experts and leaders, with a focus on decolonizing education.

Promoting Equality of ¿ÉÀÖÊÓƵal Opportunity: Canada Report for the UNESCO 10th Consultation of Member States on the Implementation of the Convention and Recommendation against Discrimination in ¿ÉÀÖÊÓƵ, 2017–20

This report is Canada’s response to the UNESCO 10th consultation of Member States on the measures taken to implement the Convention and Recommendation against Discrimination in ¿ÉÀÖÊÓƵ, adopted by the UNESCO General Conference on December 14, 1960. The purpose of the convention and recommendation is not only the elimination of discrimination in education, but also the adoption of measures aimed at promoting equality of educational opportunities and treatment in this field. This 10th consultation covers the period from 2017 to 2020. This report summarizes the application of the recommendation in Canada for this period.

Secondary ¿ÉÀÖÊÓƵ in Canada: A Student Transfer Guide, 2008-09

Each year, thousands of Canadian secondary-school students transfer from one province or territory to another. One of the major concerns associated with such transfers is the continuity of students' education. This document was prepared to assist receiving schools in placing secondary students so that their education would be as continuous as possible. Information for each jurisdiction is divided into two parts: part I provides information on secondary education in each of the ten provinces and three territories, and part II contains course descriptions to facilitate the placement of students.

Volume II, along with volume I, provides the initial results from OECD’s PISA 2022. PISA is a survey of the knowledge and skills of 15-year-olds near the end of their compulsory schooling. The major focus of the 2022 assessment was mathematics, with a secondary focus on reading and science. Volume II examines school and home contexts, educational resources, and the resiliency of education systems.

Measuring Up: Canadian Results of the OECD PISA 2022 Study The Performance of Canadian 15-Year-Olds in Mathematics, Reading, and Science

This report provides the initial results for Canada and the provinces from OECD’s PISA 2022. PISA is a survey of the knowledge and skills of 15-year-olds near the end of their compulsory schooling. The report presents both national and provincial results in mathematics, reading, and science, and complements the information presented in the PISA 2022 international report.

5th GLOBAL REPORT ON ADULT LEARNING AND EDUCATION - Canada’s Submission to the Fifth Global Report on Adult Learning and ¿ÉÀÖÊÓƵ (GRALE V) 2021

The focus of Canada’s response to the Fifth Global Report on Adult Learning and ¿ÉÀÖÊÓƵ (GRALE V) is on progress made in adult learning and education (ALE) policies, governance, financing, participation, and quality since the publication of GRALE IV in 2018, with a thematic focus on citizenship education. GRALE V also explores the impact of COVID-19 on ALE systems.

4th GLOBAL REPORT ON ADULT LEARNING AND EDUCATION - Canada’s Submission to the Fourth Global Report on Adult Learning and ¿ÉÀÖÊÓƵ (GRALE IV) 2018

The focus of Canada’s submission to the Fourth Global Report on Adult Learning and ¿ÉÀÖÊÓƵ (GRALE IV) is on progress made in adult learning and education (ALE) policies, governance, financing, participation, and quality since the publication of GRALE III in 2015. Canada’s submission was developed jointly by provincial and territorial ministries responsible for education, through their intergovernmental body, the Council of Ministers of ¿ÉÀÖÊÓƵ, Canada (CMEC); the Government of Canada, represented by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC); and the Canadian Commission for UNESCO. This submission was compiled by CMEC.

This publication presents the survey results for Canada as submitted to the Third Global Report on Adult Learning and ¿ÉÀÖÊÓƵ (GRALE III) in 2015. It responds to the commitments made at the Sixth International Conference on Adult ¿ÉÀÖÊÓƵ (CONFINTEA VI) in 2009, as laid down in the Belém Framework for Action (BFA), specifically in monitoring progress on adult learning and education (ALE).

Assessment Matters! is a series of policy-oriented research notes designed to explore educational issues in Canada and Canadian jurisdictions. These notes are based on the results of international and national assessment programs, including the Pan-Canadian Assessment Program (PCAP), the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS), and the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS).
